[11 Feb 2009] i can not figure this out

so, i’m watching leverage on the DVR. i notice that the defendant’s lawyer looks familiar. just a little something in the back of my head.

i search imdb’s cast list for the episode, and he’s not in there. which is quite odd, as he has a speaking part and everything. finally i remember epguides.com, and look up “leverage” there. find the episode and find the actor in question. its this guy:

david shatraw

where did i recognize mr. shatraw from? he was christopher titus’ friend tommy on titus.

to emphasize: i recognized a guy from a tv show that hasn’t been on the air for seven years, with only a brief look at his now. a real life person? i wouldn’t be able to recognize them a day later.

[20 Jul 2006] BSG, Season 3

Preview of Battlestar Galactica, season 3:

I even paused Zim to watch it.

[22 Jun 2006] Yay, We’re Doomed!

In news that will probably make Jenny pee her pants, Invader Zim is now available at the iTunes Music Store. The first episode is even free! So far, only Volume 1 is available, but hopefully the rest will soon follow.

Of course, now this means I have a more compelling reason to drop some money on a video iPod. Damn you, Apple.

[26 Apr 2006] Caprica

‘Galactica’ Prequel on Tap at Sci Fi. Sounds good, even if it doesn’t have Katee Sackhoff

[6 Feb 2006] They’re just commercials

Damnit, people, what is wrong with you? I keep hearing, over and over this morning, about the fucking commercials during the super bowl.

“Oh, I really liked that one for blah blah blah.”
“Did you see the one where yadda yadda?”
“The commercial for product X cured my herpes…it’s a miracle!”

And so on.

They’re commercials. Advertisers spend millions of dollars trying to pimp out their worthless crap, and you’re eating it up like pudding. Some of you morons are watching a fucking game just to see them. Why? The other 364 days out of the year, you hit the fast-forward button on your DVR as soon as a commercial comes on.

What. The. Fuck?

Have you ever read a magazine for the ads? Do you purposely try to find the most banner-filled website, and go to that all the time? It just doesn’t make any sense.

[6 Sep 2005] It Has Lyrics

Not only does the theme to Star Trek have lyrics (something I remember reading about before, but never really cared enough to look up), but William Shatner will be singing them during the next Emmy telecast:

Finally, Shatner will perform the theme from “Star Trek” with opera star Frederica von Stade. The song actually has lyrics — penned by series creator Gene Roddenberry — in addition to Shatner’s “final frontier” narration.

I don’t suppose there’s anyway we could get Bill Murray singing about Star Wars instead?

[4 Jan 2005] Wising Up?

Is America finally starting to wise up? Fox’s ‘Daddy’ Is Ratings Dud.

Adoption advocates protested the special, and tried to get Fox affiliates not to air it. In the end, viewer indifference will likely doom the concept _ “Who’s Your Daddy?” continues a trend of lackluster ratings for new reality shows.

I for one welcome the day when reality TV is looked back with fond nostalgia…as we watch the usual sludge of scripted sitcoms and dramas that have plagued us for the last few decades.

[25 Dec 2004] Fox Sports

Going through the DirectTV channel line-up at my parents’ place, I found the following variations of Fox Sports Net:

  • World
  • New England
  • New York
  • Pittsburgh
  • South
  • Football (at least, I assume that’s what FSFL means)
  • Detroit
  • Ohio
  • Ohio (probably Cincinnati, FSCN)
  • Chicago
  • North
  • Southwest
  • Rocky Mountains
  • Midwest
  • Arizona
  • Northwest
  • West
  • West (2)
  • Bay Area

My first thought is: overkill, much? My second thought is: with all of these channels, why must Sunday football overrun the regular FOX primetime lineup?

[16 Dec 2004] TV God

<maude flanders>The clergy. Won’t somebody please think of the clergy?</maude flanders>

[9 Sep 2004] Hurrah for Adult Swim

Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim continues to impress me. Not only have they helped to resurrect Family Guy, they will help to keep the new run of the series alive, even after FOX once again fucks it over and cancels it due to poor ratings. (Call it my Internet Psychic, if you will).

Not only that, they’ll be helping FOX with Seth McFarlane’s new series, American Dad (which looks good even from just the one commercial I’ve seen for it), and also giving a home to the much-anticipated Boondocks cartoon. Hopefully the quality of the comic strip will come through when it’s animated.
